Fortaleza
Fortaleza the capital of the State of Ceará is an important port and tourist center, and the fifth largest city in Brazil.
The city grew from Fort Schoonenborch, founded by the Dutch in 1649, at the mouth of the Pajeú River in Mucuripe Bay, when a few years later, in 1654, the fort fell to the Portuguese, who renamed it Fortress of Our Lady of the Assumption the seat of a captaincy.
Fortaleza is today famous throughout Brazil for its leather goods and textiles.
Fortaleza is one of the three main cities in the Northeast region, together with Recife and Salvador.
To add to all this, it is important to mention that Brazil is free of natural disasters, and is a country with a low cost of living.
