Martinique
Martinique is an island in the Lesser Antilles in the Eastern Caribbean Sea, with an area of 1,128 square kilometers.
Like Guadeloupe, it is an overseas region of France, which consists of a single overseas department. It is one of the Windward Islands, north of Saint Lucia, northwest of Barbados, and south of Dominica.
The old capital, Saint-Pierre, became world famous after the great volcanic eruption of 1902 on Mount Pelée. On November 29, 2007, there was an earthquake of 7.4 on the Richter scale, which was felt in Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and Amapá. His most illustrious son was the first consort of Emperor Napoleon I, the Empress Josephine de Beauharnais.

From Creole "accras" (a type of fry made with cod or seafood) to the French "foie gras", Martinique offers a unique approach to Caribbean cuisine in how to prepare seafood, oysters, pork, red meat, fruits and vegetables fresh. Combined with great French wines and champagnes, it is the paradise for those who enjoy a good meal!
Weather
The most common misconception about the West Indies is that it should be much warmer in the summer than during the rest of the year. In fact, average monthly temperatures remain remarkably stable, varying by only about 5 ° C throughout the year. This stability can be attributed to the Alísios winds that bring a refreshing breeze from the northeast throughout the year.
Summer is really a great time to visit the islands because the accommodation rates are much lower and the beaches, roads and restaurants are not crowded.
December to May is considered the dry season, while June to November is considered the wettest season. Sporadic rains with clear skies can occur anytime during the year. In general, rains pass quickly and the sun shines on most days. Average air temperatures in coastal areas vary from 22º to 30ºC (72º to 86ºF) and in the interior regions, from 19º to 27ºC (66º to 81ºF). Of course, travelers will find more rain and colder temperatures in the rainforests and higher altitudes. Hot coastal water temperatures stay between 20º and 23ºC (68º and 74ºF).
Hurricanes can occur anytime from June through November and, historically, the most likely time is in September. Modern technology puts storm warning systems increasingly sophisticated every year. It is not common for any island to be severely affected more than once or twice every 10 years and their real chances of experiencing a hurricane are very low. Some travelers purchased trip cancellation insurance prior to travel, especially during the most active period of the hurricane season.
