Quietly and remotely surrounded by nature, this basic cottage is 2 km off Finnish National Road 4, by the river Liesijoki. The town of Sodankylä and Sompio Nature Reserve are both within 50 km.

Wilderness Vuotso consists of 2 cottages, each with sleeping accommodation and a wood-burning stove. One has a sauna where it is possible to heat up water from the nearby river, while the other is powered by solar panels and has a gas-powered cooking hob. There is no electricity or running water in either of the cottages.

Staff at Vuotso Wilderness can provide drinking water, as well as organise use of a row boat and canoe. Other nature-related activities include hiking, bird watching and berry picking. The artificial Lake Peurasuvanto is 2 km away.

The closest restaurant, grocery store and petrol station are all 30 minutes’ drive from the cottage, while the Urho Kekkonen National Park is 50 km away.
